Description
How Does FELIWAY® Spray Work?
FELIWAY® Spray releases calming “happy messages” that help cats feel safe and secure — whether they’re travelling, visiting the vet, or navigating changes at home.
These messages are synthetic copies of the natural facial pheromones cats use to mark their environment as familiar. When your cat rubs their face on furniture, corners or even you, they’re leaving behind these reassuring signals.
When they encounter those signals again, it helps them feel calm and comfortable. FELIWAY® Spray recreates that process, making it ideal for targeted areas like a favourite corner of the sofa or inside a cat carrier.
How Quickly Does It Work?
Many cats respond almost immediately.
However, always wait 15 minutes after spraying before allowing your cat access to the treated area.
How Long Should It Be Used?
Usage depends on the situation:
For Travel:
-
Spray inside the carrier, on bedding, or in the car 15 minutes before use.
-
Reapply every 4–5 hours during longer journeys if needed.
At Home:
-
Spray once or twice daily on areas where unwanted behaviours (like urine spraying or scratching) occur.
-
Continue until signs of stress or discomfort improve.
When Should You Use FELIWAY® Spray?
It can help in situations such as:
-
Travel stress (meowing, agitation, salivation, toileting in the carrier)
-
Scratching walls or furniture in specific areas
-
Urine spraying around the home
If travelling, always spray the carrier at least 15 minutes before your cat goes inside.
Where Should You Apply It?
For Travel:
-
Inside the carrier
-
On bedding
-
In the car
(Always wait 15 minutes before your cat has access.)
At Home:
-
On areas where urine spraying or scratching occurs (sofas, chairs, door frames, doors)
-
Ideally after cleaning those surfaces first
Important: Where NOT to Use It
-
Never spray directly onto your cat.
-
Never spray inside a carrier while your cat is in it.
-
Do not spray scratching posts — this may discourage your cat from using them.
When Is It Not Suitable?
FELIWAY® Spray is not intended for:
-
Motion sickness during travel (withhold food for 6 hours before travel to help reduce nausea, but always provide water).
-
Situations where litter trays or scratching posts are unavailable — these are essential needs.
-
Behaviour caused by medical conditions (such as inappropriate urination, hiding, appetite loss). A vet consultation is recommended.
-
Aggression towards humans — seek professional veterinary advice in these cases.
How Much Should You Use?
Use 8–10 sprays per application.
A 60ml bottle provides approximately 50 sprays.
How Long Do the Effects Last?
Each application typically lasts 4–5 hours, though responses can vary slightly between cats.
Recycling
The bottle is made from recyclable plastic and can be recycled.
